Seshin

Seshin

Probably most easy way how to describe it is "just looking in the wall in lotus pose" (zazen). Also internet and speaking not allowed.

Schedule of the one sesshing day looks like:

  • 3:45 - getting up
  • 4:00 - zazen started
  • 9:00 - breakfast
  • 10:15 - zazen
  • 15:00 - lunch
  • 16:15 - zazen
  • 21:00 - sleep

And yes - 5 hour zazen is not like whole 5 hours of seating

Zazen schedule:

  • 0h00min - seating
  • 0h45min - kinhin (walking meditation)
  • 1h00min - seating
  • 1h45min - outside kinhin
  • 2h00min - seating
  • 2h45min - walking
  • 3h00min - seating
  • 3h45min - walking
  • 4h00min - seating
  • 5h00min - end of seating

What I can describe first seshin from my point of view:

  • before some days - could I survive and not die or run away?
  • 1 day - What to do next 5 days?
  • 2 day - It's not so easy next 4 days. Could I survive?
  • 3 day - Pain in legs. Pain in shoulders. Pain in back.
  • 4 day - Wohoo now I have found pose how to seat without a pain \o/
  • 5 day - Lets wait little bit and we will have a lot of sleep.

Here is some photos how looks my wall and hondo (temple) where you seat and make some zazen.

And yes while we where outside making walking meditation someone have make a video and we haven't even noticed it.

Weather

Weather here is like today is sunny, tomorrow is rain, and now is snow. Every time it changes. Today in the morning I woke up and seen that snow again is outside. And this kind of weather is only on mountain. If you walk like 300 meters down by the road you will see how cloud is hiding in our valley. Because of that when we have mist and heavy rain then 300 meters away there is no mist and rain not so big.

Rain

When starts raining and raining is ended. From everywhere you hear rivers and sound of water. And a lot of waterfalls along the road.

Comments

Very cool. Especially videos - really gives you a feeling about weather, birds and surroundings

Videos shows only snow. But there was one day when rain was and one day when was nice sunny weather. Every day was very unique becaouse of that.

Hi Arturs... Would you like to tell me the reason behind your planning? I support meditation. But it is quite surprising to see you as "Yogi" (one who meditate)
